Johnson County SWCD Poster Contest
Judith K. Hoffman, Chair of the Prairie Rose RC&D Council, presented a $1000 check to Kris Swope, District Manager for the Johnson County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) on April 15, 2003 in Warrensburg, Missouri. The check was a grant to assist the SWCD with costs associated with the annual Conservation Poster Contest.
The Prairie Rose RC&D requested a grant from Wal-Mart to assist the Johnson County SWCD with their environmental education program. Kris Swope, took the lead in developing the contacts for the RC&D Council to apply for the grant. The Prairie Rose RC&D is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Concordia, Missouri. "This is a win-win situation for everyone", Ms. Hoffman stated. "Because we are a 501(c)(3), we can apply for and receive grants that assist other organizations who have the same or similar goals." "That allows us to carry out projects that help improve the areas that we serve."
Prairie Rose RC&D serves the eight county area of Ray, Carroll, Chariton, Jackson, Lafayette, Saline, Johnson and Pettis counties.
April 15, 2003 Prairie Rose RC&D Council presented the Johnson County Soil and Water Conservation District with a check for $1,000 from the Warrensburg Wal-Mart Super Center to be used on the Poster Contest Field Day Events with the fourth Grade Children of Johnson County.
