NCMC Grants Library Establishment
NCMC Grants Library Establishment
Northwest Missouri is a 100% rural area removed from any sizable urban areas by 75 to 100 miles. As a result, it becomes very expensive and time consuming for local residents to get the same services that other people enjoy. Local people did not have access to grants information and training to empower local communities. The Green Hills RC&D Council identified the need and did something about it. In cooperation with the North Central Missouri College the first local grants library and resource center was opened in February 1993.

NCMC Has New
North Central Missouri College was recently awarded a grant through the Green Hills Resource Conservation & Development Council (RC&D) in Trenton to establish a Grants Library addition at the college. The Green Hills RC&D co-sponsored and developed the grant with th4e cooperation of the Grundy County Commission and the NCMC Administration. The resource library is one of the first in the country that has been located in a Community College with the use of RC&D funds. The new addition to the NCMC Library will contain the latest most up to date handbooks and manuals on searching for grant dollars from private, federal, state, and corporate sources. In addition several handbooks are available on how to write grants that get funded and presenting your proposal to funders. |
(Continued-NCMC library)
It is expected that the grants resource section will provide valuable information to local businesses, local government officials, non-profit organizations, and individuals seeking funds to implement their project goals and objectives. Future plans include expansion of the resource section as new material becomes available and holding grant writing workshops to fully utilize the new facility. For more information visit the NCMC Library or call Dr. James Selby or Robert Shields at 660-359-3948. The use of theses resources is available to all citizens in the Green Hills region and north Missouri without regard to student enrollment or college program participation. Visit the NCMC Library soon and get that grant for your project.

The Green Hills RC&D in partnership with the North Central Missouri College has funded the new FC Search online grant research database at the college library. This combined effort will once again provide quality grantwriting assistance for local residents in a 12 county are of NW Missouri.
As a result of $5000 grant awarded from the Regional Rural Community Foundation in Trenton, Missouri, we have just purchased the 2004 version of the Foundation Center Search software. This software will connect to 8 different computer systems at the college to improve grant searches for funders.
The Grants Library at NCMC College was started in 1992 with a grant from the Green Hills RC&D Council to purchase all the current grants directories such as; the Foundation Directory, Tafts Corporate Guide, Missouri Foundations Handbook and numerous others. The library has provided 12 years of service to local residents allowing for a local resource for grant searches without having to drive to Kansas City or Columbia, Missouri to conduct their search.
For further information please call College Librarian - Ann Sampson at #660-359-3948 Ext.322. or the Green Hills RC&D office at 660-646-6220
