The Green Hills Conservation Tree Program was started in 1991 in an effort to provide income for the RC&D Council and fill a niche by offering tree species that were not available locally.

The program has varied in species type and packaging to keep it marketable in a changing environment. Species that have been offered to the public include the following: Colorado Blue Spruce, Black Walnut, White Spruce, Pecan, Norway Spruce,  Green Ash, White Pine,  Flowering Dogwood, Scotch Pine, Flowering Crab, Austrian Pine,  Sugar Maple, Arborvitae,  Red Oak, The age range of our trees have been from 3-0 seedlings to 2-2 transplants. All at a cost of 1.25 to 1.50 per tree with a price break of 25 in a bundle. Trees from our program are typically used for windbreaks, screenings, ornamental landscaping or block plantings for reforestation.
