The Regional Rural Community Foundation was started in 1995 and has been funding projects for several years. Their areas of giving include education, rural development, health and the environment. On a yearly basis the Foundation approves dozens of small grants to benefit citizens of the Green Hills region. Click on this link to go to the Regional Rural Community Foundation.
Regional Rural Community Foundation Status Update:
As of January 1, 2004 the Regional Rural Community Foundation has released it's 501C status and disbursed all it's funds back to the community. The Foundation did a great service to local area projects and organizations and provided several hundred thousand dollars to improve the standard of living and quality of life for local residents.
Grant Applications Sought:
The Rural Community Foundation will be accepting grant requests until October 1st, 2003 for 1st quarter consideration. Local non-profit groups and schools may apply for funds in the area of Education, Health, Rural Development, Agriculture and Youth Development. The Livingston County Community Foundation was incorporated in 1998 and has a vision of providing future funding for the needs of Livingston County communities. Their focus on giving includes the areas of Economic Development, Community Development, Education, Environment, Community Health & Wellness, Mental Health Services, Youth Programs, Arts & Humanities, Family Life, Special Projects, and Funding for the Future. Current efforts are underway to enhance a permanent endowment from local donors and then give the money back to the community through individual project grants.
The great majority of grants are given to organization and projects in the county of Livingston. The Foundation may occasionally support projects in the county of Livingston that would not necessarily be funded anywhere else. The Foundation may fund endowments based on demonstrated need and community benefits, as long as they meet 501C3 requirements.
The board of Trustees considers grant requests four times per year, December, April, August and October. The Foundation expects the organization to which a grant is made to report, in detail, how the funds have expended at least on a semi-annual basis, or more often at the discretion of the Board on a case by case basis, with a final report due 30 days after the project completion.
